Let's just say the past week has been more than a blur for me. Last week I left Dunedin at 7:25 pm on the 12th and arrived in Denver at 7:30 pm on the 12th. My great friend Tessa picked me up accompanied by her new puppy, Gouda! Who is a rambunctious 5 month old basset hound. Unfortunately Brandon, the co-parent of Gouda, couldn't make it to the airport due to work so we picked him up on our way back to my apartment.
I spent less than 48 hours in Denver, but did not waste a single second. After catching up with several good friends including Nick, my roommate, I managed to pass out at 1 am even though it still felt like it was the afternoon. On Saturday Nick, Katie and I ran several errands, including shipping my ski boots home to vt and not being able to pick up my train pass..... and then proceeded to take a quick rest before The 9th Annual Soul Rebel Festival. A legendary (in my opinion) Hip Hop group called Binary Star who recently re-united was on the lineup as well as one of my favorite MCs, Macklemore, accompanied by Ryan Lewis (DJ), a trumpeter, and a violinist. The three of us stayed for a handful of performances, including those two groups, and then left a bit early because Nick and I had to get up at 8 am to make it to the airport on time.
Macklemore- I was dancing too much to take a good picture.
Binary star consists of two extremely conscious rappers, and a funny little white DJ (also conscious). They only produced two albums dating back to '99 and '01 before the group split up. I did not know they were back together until seeing the lineup for this show online. To say the least, they brought everything I expected and more.
A short 38 hours after returning to Denver I was sitting on a plane to Philly with the final destination of Amsterdam. Christian met me at the train station and from there it's been incredible.
So, I'm sorry to do this, but I will have to finish this story once I return to Amsterdam again. Until then, enjoy these photos and artworks.
First day in Amsterdam, riding on the back of Christian's bike.
Looking out of a door in Christian's apartment, it literally opens up to nothing but the street below.
Just your average dull day starting off Copenhagen's winter right.
Entrance to Christiania, I was disappointed to find out you weren't allowed to take pictures.
This piece was done for an art contest, Nimbus Independent is a ski movie company created by the famous group of skiers consisting of Pep Fujas, Eric Pollard, Andy Mahre, and Chris Benchetler.
Cheers,
